“Boss moves, only thing I endorse duke…” Nas and Fila?

June 30, 2008

Boss moves huh? Nas recently entered into a deal with Fila to endorse its athletic line. Im not so sure that was a good idea. The deal stipulates according to Billboard.com:

“Fila will offer reciprocal financial support for Nas’ print and TV ad campaign as well as his upcoming tour in support of his untitled album, due July 15 via Def Jam. In return, the MC will wear Fila products and co-create an apparel line that draws from fashions of the late ’80s.”

I guess Nas plans to go from Prada to the Filaradas as we call them in L.A. (the knock off Pradas Fila has designed). The “Filaradas” are a shoe in which apparently Hurricane Chris already endoreses. Now, that in itself isnt a great move. I mean Nas in the same category as Hurricane Chris, never should he be, not even in shoe endorsements.

HahahahahahaIn a playful mood i went to footlocker and asked for a pair of “Filaradas.” Safe to say the attendant looked at me in both disgust and surprise. Guess he hadnt had that request asked of him too many times… We’ll see how many of those fly off the shelves after Nas endorses them. My guess? not many… Smarten Up Nas….

Jay Z @ Glastonbury

June 30, 2008

I guess Jay Z is over in the UK proving his critics wrong. Most said that he would not get a very good following at his performance at Glastonbury, well from the look at his turn out he did quite well with the amount of people who showed up. I hope Jay Z touring there allows for the people to feel his music the way we do. Check out the performance.

According to Billboard.com

“Jay-Z’s response was emphatic. He opened his show with a film using Gallagher’s now infamous comments and a montage of clips parodying him, before launching into an acoustic rendition of one of Oasis’s biggest hits, “Wonderwall.” Most fans and critics were impressed.”

BEBE On the Red Carpet

June 30, 2008

Well, we all know that every piece of clothing on the red carpet isn’t of a designer brand and every person on the carpet can’t afford designer pieces. But then they are some celebs, who can, but don’t spend the big bucks on the designer items. Like Ciara.

Ciara at the BET awards

After jumping on two performances at the BET awards, she stepped into the BET press room wearing the Gaby Leather Gladiator Sandals by BEBE. The super gladiators retail for $189.00.

Coco of SWV and Flavor of Love veteran Shay “Buckeey” Johnson also appreciate the styles of BEBE. While attending the same BET awards show, both ladies wore the Tanya Satin Double Velcro sandal, Coco’s in black and Shay’s in Pink.

I’m not crazy about these. Like I said before, there is something a bit “ankle brace” about them… And the velcro straps just add an orthopedic detail to the shoe. The shoes retail at BEBE for $129.00.

Check out more BEBE styles below…

Jay Z on Friday Night… video interview

June 28, 2008

Two reviews of the same interview… gotta Love TCJ…. who else would give you two blogs in one?

CB says:

I thought this interview was hilarious with Jay Z and also Will smith in some parts. Is it me or is the host semi racist? After Jay Z leaves the stage he pulls his pants down and starts sagging. To me he was trying to say all black entertainers sag and walk with a limp. I know he was trying to be funny but he rubbed me the wrong with that shit. But never the less it was still a funny interview. The host really needs to study more hip hop before he interviews Jay Z though. He lost Jay during certain moments of the interview which had me laughing. I hope you enjoy.

Fresh says:

I might be wrong, but i found it entertaining. To me, Jay was definitely playing into the interview, absurd questions and all. I think Jay played along, and his sarcasm was on point. Even when he ‘played’ offended, i think Jay was just playing along still…. When asked about his ‘wife’ and he purposely blew past the question, jumping subjects, and then acknowledged the interviewer for having provided a seamless segue past the very question he had just asked, it was all in fun. I ignored a couple phone calls watching this….
