Comment i Left over at ThaFeedback.com
Ima go see it, even though many of his plays were better than the big screen versions. I guess the hollywood influence pushes him to water down some of the topics.
But i still support, not cuz im a tyler perry fan just cuz there are so few good movies these days lol…
Tyler Perry is hit or miss, no in between. When he’s good, he’s good, when he flops he FLOPS….
but i fucks with ALL his plays. anyone who can create a character like BROWN is a genious lol….
thanks to good ol IPS at ThaFeedback for the heads up
Is Robert Downey Jr.’s role In Tropic Thunder, Black face? | Good question
August 13, 2008
So is it? In Tropic Thunder, Robert Downey Jr. is playing an Oscar winning actor by the name of Kirk Lazarus who in turn gets to play the role of “the dude playing the dude disguised as another dude!” which is actually one of his lines in the movie. In the movie Downey’s role as Lazarus must dawn the ever controversial “black face” as he is playing a white actor that goes under the knife to become “black” for a role as a black man. The satirical nature of this movie plays upon this theme with Brandon T. Jackson (an actual negro lol) playing the role of the black man who questions the not so black, black man. In one scene Robert Downey’s character says “what do you
mean YOU people,” as if someone were stereotyping or generalizing blacks and it was as if Downey was coming to the aide of “his people.” This prompted Brandon T. Jackson’s character, Alpa Chino, to reply with “what do YOU mean YOU people?” That scene is by far one of the funniest scene in the movie’s trailer if you ask me… Which leaves me to feel somewhat guilty for finding this movie entertaining. Im definitely going to go see it, and probably laugh to whole way through, but, the question i pose to you is, IS IT BLACK FACE? of just another one of Ben Stiller’s (director) antics? Do we write it off as comedy? or do we take offense? Let me know…
The Question has been asked by many, see what they’re saying around the Web about Downey’s black face:

Dark Knight Review…
July 29, 2008
“You’re just a freak….like me”
With that line, the late Heath Ledger has cemented his place in cinema history. Never has a movie been so hyped…and delivered.
The story, for those who haven’t seen it, revolves around the cleaning up of Gotham City but newly appointed District Attorney Harvey Dent (played masterfully by Aaron Eckhart).Dent’s objective is to rid the city of the mob element .However, the fly in his ointment is Ledger’s Joker, who somehow has convinced that Dent is not the problem, it’s “The Batman” and that his reach knows no jurisdiction.
Batman (played once again brilliantly by Christian Bale), is at a career crossroads. He now believes that Gotham does not need The Dark Knight and actually rallies his support behind D.A. Dent, who now is dating former flame Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal), who questions Wayne’s motivations.
As the city lies in ruins as the Joker’s plot unfolds, Lt. James Gordon (Gary Oldham), Dent, and Batman unearth a plan to snare The Joker. What they fail to realize is that the Joker has other ideas as his plan for retribution against all three unfolds as he rots in a Gotham jail. The end results forces Batman to choose between Rachel and Harvey Dent (who ironically are romantically linked). He chooses Dent but in the process, Dent becomes physically altered in the face from his harrowing rescue by The Dark Knight (due to his face being drenched on one side by oil that had leaked from a drum where he was being held hostage).
Upon this, Dent goes into a rage and blames Gordon and Batman for the death of Rachel and becomes a death dealer of sorts assuming the moniker “Harvey Two Face”, (a name not so flatteringly given to him as he came up through the ranks prior to becoming district attorney of Gotham).Forced into a corner, the Dark Knight decides, in the best interest of the people of the city, to become the hunted.
All in all, the great tragedy is that we will never know where The Joker would have gone due to the unfortunate death of Ledger. Still, it is rare that an all star cast delivers an all star movie. But Bale, Ledger, Oldham (not to mention veteran actors Michael Caine and the superb Morgan Freeman) do just that. This is a must see if ever there was one. Late
Step Brothers | The second coming of Talladega Nights
July 20, 2008
From the same two dummies that brought you Anchorman, Talladega Nights, comes Step Brothers. All three screenplays were written by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay. But, the great part (for those of us who LOVED Talledega Nights) is that Step Brothers stars Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly (Reilly played Cal Naughton Jr. in Talledega…). Anyone that knows me, knows im a BIG Will Ferrell fan. From Old School, to Anchorman, and my favorite Talledga. So you should know im amped about Step Brothers. Comes out on the 25th of July, check out the trailer, and make sure you go see the movie. And a word to the wise for all you “Baby Boy”, “Boyz n the Hood” hood movie loving n!gg@$, broaden your horizons, chics dig it.
Ice Cube in talks to join the cast of the 80’s show The A-Team
July 15, 2008
Ice cube is apparently in talks to join the John Singleton directed A-Team, to play the role of B.A. Baracus (Mr. T). Also in talks (again, apparently) to play the same role is Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. Video of both Ice Cube and Rampage announcing consideration.
“I can’t say that I’m gonna be [B.A. yet] because it’s still up to Fox, the people who have the movie,” Cube told MTV News on Tuesday after a taping of “TRL.” “But John Singleton hit me — I believe he’s gonna direct. If he directs it, I have a great chance of doing B.A. And yeah, I’d cut it. I’d get it into a Mohawk!” -MTV.com
Also in talks, Woody Harrelson, to play as Murdock
