Gucci Here, Gucci There, Gucci Everywhere…

September 1, 2008

Gucci’s Fall 2008 seems to have cemented their already top spot. It was by far, their best Gucci collection yet. The collection, which contained a mix of ethnic prints, classic pieces and gold studded & embellished accessories, has always been a big celebrity favorite. But this season, the red carpet has already been overloaded with Gucci-dom, before the season has official started.

Singer Rihanna was one of the initial celebrities to rock a Fall 08 Gucci outfit at a Gucci event in honor of the Singer. She took the look of the pleated Gucci dress and leather studded jacket, straight from the red carpet, and paired them with last seasons open toe Gucci Newton High heeled booties.

Also attending the same Gucci event was Camilla Belle. The young actress wore an ethnic print dress with Gucci Marion Studded sandals. Rihanna wore the same sandals while out and about at a later date. The Marion Studded Sandals retail at Neiman Marcus for $995.00. Both looks are cute and shows that the shows work well with both dress and jeans.

Ugly Betty star Becki Newton, and media mogul Tyra Banks also were on the same page with a Gucci halter dress. The Gucci dress contains a leather halter hooked to the dress horsebit ring buckle. Tyra wore the long version of the dress, which looked perfect on curvy frame. While the short version, which was paired with Gucci Roisin high heeled ankle wrap sandals, fit looked great on Becki’s petite figure. All items came be found at Gucci.

Next up on the Gucci train is Miss Amerie. She recently wore the very popular Elizabeth and James getup on the red carpet. She paired the outfit with a few Gucci accessories. First the Gucci Devendra over-the-knees boots with tassels. And also the Gucci Hysteria bag with the season’s ethnic print. The top-handle bag comes with a detachable shoulder strap and is embellished with the Gucci crest symbol. The bag was also recently been worn by The Hills, Whitney Port, but in red. The bag retails for $1,295 at Gucci, along with the boots priced at $1,995.00.

The Pastry Mogul Vanessa Simmons is very found of her latest Gucci buy. She’s been seen wearing the Gucci Babouska studded booties not once, but twice. This booties are gorgeous and has been featured in the latest magazines. They’ll most likely be a popular product this fall. Get them while they’re hot. The Gucci Babouska currently retail at Neiman Marcus for $995.00. Don’t wait for these to go to clearance; I’m sure they’ll be selling fast…

And last, but not least, Miss Kim Kardashian wore a raspberry Gucci wrap dress on her visit to Letterman. The Disaster Movie actress looked stunning and sophisticated in the number. Her Christian Louboutin peeptoes were the perfect match.

Fashion Face-Off: The Jumpsuit Edition

August 29, 2008

Ever since the beginning of the year, celebs have been jumping on the jumpsuit trend. Shapely actress Jennifer Hudson, jump stated the trend with a Fall 2007 Michael Kors jumpsuit. She rocked the ensemble with glamed up makeup, 50’s hair and pearls. Hot look. So hot that others couldn’t possible let J-Hud monopolize.

Sanaa Latham recently wore the same jumpsuit. But instead of going super glam like Jennifer, she went “girl next door” natural. Isn’t that what most love about Sanaa. Miss Lathan wore minimum to no accessories and still looked fly.

But, for this fashion face-off, I’ll have to go with Jennifer Hudson. Her makeup was a lttle over-done, but I thought she filled the suit slightly better. Who do you think deserves the crown?

Rihanna was also another to present one of the biggest trends of the Spring/Summer seasons, with the introduction of florals via a Spring 08 Stella McCartney Jumpsuit. Great choice Rihanna! Stella definitely proved to be queen of the jumpsuits for the season, with her collection containing at least 7 jumpsuits. Rihanna wore my favorite of the collection, which she paired with multiple bangles and flat sandals.

But she Ri-ri wasn’t the only one to rock the head-to-toe floral look. Model and Actress Angie Harmon, also wore the same jumpsuit to an event. Though she did look beautiful, I think Rihanna won this fashion face-off. Again, it’s the fit on Rihanna that i appreciated more. Who do you think deserves the crown?

And lastly, reality television stars Heidi Montag and Kim Kardashian were both seen wearing an oversized drawstring, halter jumpsuit; Heidi in a blue jumpsuit and Kim in a white jumpsuit. The jumpsuit was also from the same 08 Spring/Summer Stella McCartney collection as Rihanna and Angie Harmon’s. This is a refreshing look for both girls, since they are both multiple veterans of the super-tight Herve Leger dresses. Heidi loved the look so much, that she’s been seen in the same jumpsuit months ago.

As far as the fashion face-off, I’m going with Heidi, yes that Heidi. I love the pop of pink from her clutch. Who do you think deserves the crown?

The Herve Leger Dress Remixed by Max Azria

July 22, 2008

While Hervé Léger is seen all over the red carpet, the original Hervé Léger (now known as Hervé L. Leroux) is in Paris working on his latest couture gowns for private clients, not reaping one cent from the new success of his infamous bandage dress. Leroux sold his company to the Max Azria empire in the late 90’s and parted ways years later, leaving the rights to his name behind.  Now the dress has been left behind to be remixed by successful designer Max Azria, owner the BCBG empire.

Hugging the silhouette of starlets and socialites made this dress the most photographed dress of 2007. Multiple colors and styles of the dress have even been worn by a single individual at different events, leaving the readers of fashion magazine and blogs wagging a finger at the lack of creativity of the guilty starlets, while also admitting that the dress is simply FIRE.

I would describe a Herve Leger dress as “Spanx overload.” The bands are like stylish ruberbands hemmed together to provide an hour-glass silhouette even on the hanger, of course transforming its occupant into a vixen upon application.

With recent success of the reproduced classic dress, Azria decided to take creative reign over the line and revamp the dresses with his signature touch. Let’s see how Azria remixed the HL dress…
The line presented more sophisticated silhoettes…

And the debut of banded coats and jackets…

Though I was in love with most looks on the runway, there was a few that left me flabbergasted. *blank stare* A banded coat of armor?

Hopefully, when these dresses are seen on the red carpet, they’ll be worn by ladies who look more alive and healthy.  Putting these dresses on boney undead-looking models is a complete waste.  But I see much potential for the dresses.

Well, we’ve seen the future of the Hervé Léger dress. Let’s take a look at the past…

And last but not least, the future of Herve L. Leroux…

The designer has been focusing on drapes that fit tight to the body. “I don’t do bands anymore—although I am thinking of redoing them,” he says.
