A Virgo Affair

We celebrate the great rights and privileges we have in this country when it comes to the entrepreneurial spirit. Many of the greatest ideas, concepts, and industries came from the most humble of beginnings. I mean, thankfully Henry Ford came up with the idea of creating a way of transportation that involved more than two feet or two wheels. And who doesn’t flip on a computer and not see that familiar Windows emblem float across the screen in some way, shape or form. Andy Warhol was dead on when he said everyone seeks their fifteen minutes of fame. But if there’s no foundation, most things die in their tracks. For a few young men in Los Angeles, that not only wasn’t gonna happen, they were going to make sure it became their reality.
The result is 1610 Studio Photography, the brainchild of founder Kenton Murillo, fellow entrepreneur and co founder Fernando Henry, and CEO Dewan Herron. Murillo states it came from quite humble beginnings” Many people need to accomplish something in life and somebody always needs a way or a stepping stone to get there. So I took it upon myself to start something that will bring people together “Needless to say, the results have been outstanding having done red carpets and assorted glamorous shoots for, among others, DUB Magazine. So successful has 1610 been, they have branched out to putting on their own social events.
On September 13 in Los Angeles, Murillo and his studio will present “Virgo Affair”, yet another event spawned off of a basic concept.”It started two years ago as my birthday party. But it started growing from there. My friends start getting larger, my name start getting out there. It was like” Kenton have some bomb ass parties, you know, stuff like that. From there, it started turning in to a social meet and greet affair where people can come and meet other people in the industry and link up .I say who knows who you might meet at these parties .This party guest list includes casting agents, photographers, brokers, bankers, models, musicians, etc. So it’s a party you don’t want to miss”
Murillo takes pride in what he has accomplished so far with his studio.”Now I have the aid of studio partners and a way of making everybody feel like they’re a movie star on red carpet. Even still, he knows where the credit and support has come from.”I just want to thank Dewan Herron, Genovia Herron (1610’s makeup artist extraordinaire), and Fernando Henry, who all took time out their busy schedules to help in this endeavor. My motto is never leave anyone behind when success is in you future. So come celebrate with me on Saturday September 13, 2008 in Los Angeles”
In closing, let us be mindful of all that goes on in the world that perpetuates negativity and take pride in the fact that, in the great spirit of past entrepeneurs, 1610 Photography Studios is more than just a concept, it is a way of life for all involved. It’s about passion, it’s about family, and it’s about breaking all the ideas that no goal is unattainable or unreachable. These young black men and women are setting the standard that future generations will follow and they should be applauded.1610 is not just the name on the marquee, it’s here……..and it’s on its way.
