Obama or Jesus?

I already know ima catch a lot of flack for this one. I dont mind though. Me and CB aka LouAlcindor were talking the other day about how during Obama acceptance speech people were so emotional, even to the point of tears. I mean dont get me wrong, it was a historical event, PLANNED on a historical day. I dont want to take anything away from the luster of the moment BUT, is he JESUS dammit? ( i know that was wrong huh? Jesus, then a cuss word? smh…)
Seriously, i pose this question, for an answer (leave comments!). I mean for those of us who believe in Jesus, who proclaim that name to be our savior, wouldn’t HE be the one who deserves that emotion, i mean, HE is the only capable of the change so many of us expect Obama to make.
Understand me, i support Obama, to an extent, but yesterday in church the pastor made a great point. For all that we expect Obama to do, for all that we praise Obama for, isn’t Jesus that much more worthy of that?
Hasn’t he already done just that, in each of our lives personally? I promise you, some of you act as if Obama is the 2nd coming of the messiah. And i say that SO VERY SERIOUSLY yet with a slight laugh…. more like a slight grin.
I’ve heard folks tell me they cried while watching the speech, while is fine, i like the fact that people are being proactive, waiting for Obama to change the word. lol ok so im lying. Obama wont change the word. With the assasination attempts and all, IF one were to succeed he is no Jesus, wont be none of that coming back from the dead stuff going on, remember Kennedy? Lincoln? Tupac? Those who garnered so much respect from us, even close to godly status as far as influence, but once you feel that hot lead its over. Pac was the closest to that having survived the 1st attack. What can they do for you after they’re dead and gone? Nothing…
What can they do alive? Inspire? YES! Inspire change in each of us? YES! Change all by themselves? NO! So i ask, while we sit and cry at his speeches, what are WE doing to see change? I dont see nothing but tears, i see no working hands, cept a few of us bloggers, but our good words are overshadowed because we sit around bickering about bullshit, which i have fallen into recently, my apologies to those on both sides, i apologize for my involvement, and my ignorance.
I do feel that no one can make much of a difference from the white house. PERIOD! Besides the fact that i feel that this world is deeper than votes and legislation, that money rules the world, the president can only move so far, remember checks and balances from government class in high school? Martin Luther King didn’t opt for the white house, he took it to the streets. Malcolm X, the same. Change begins and ends in ALL OF US, up to and including Obama. Aint goin happen in the white house i promise you that….
I vote Jesus for president, and Obama for VP.

Sen. Obama is no where NEAR Jesus. The emotions and awe were simply from the joy and excitement of having a minority thisclose to being the President. Anyone who graduated High School knows the President doesn’t make all and final decisions for the country, but what most of us never knew was that in a country so divided by race that a minority much less a 1/2 Black man would get so close to the highest job in the Nation.
For the African-American community, most men feel like they are either going to end up dead or in jail by the time they’re 21. The emotion surrounding Barack proves that theory wrong and gives a VERY public face to the contrary. We see drug dealers, rappers, working class stiff that look like us everyday but now you get to see someone that looks like us who is successful without being a degenerate or having tattoos on his face.
It’s funny to compare Obama to Jesus when it comes to praise but I also see where he’s getting crucified by the media and Black people. What is so strange about an educated Black (or any minority for that matter) man doing well for himself with a healthy and happy family? Black people succeed everyday and we should talk about that more rather than discourage it.
If change begins and ends in US- isn’t Barack Obama included in that US? Yeah we have to do what we can from down here but he’s going to do what he can in the White House. Of course, he can’t do it by himself but why not let him get there first?
People trip me out crying about what Barack CAN’T do but haven’t said or done anything what BUSH HAS done! People condemn and try to point out the “real” about Barack’s road to the White House but no one’s started impeachment proceedings against Bush, even organized a march or protest to D.C.
Jesus being president would be a demotion and we all need him to keep the top spot ;-)
Obama 08!
Agreed.

BUSH aint done a damn thing… agree’d
i just dont agree with the white house period. thats my issue. but then i dont really have an issue cuz to me what gonna happen is gonna happen, im waiting for heaven lol i dont see the world getting much better.
um, sorry the agreed was for the post. I try not comment on politics specially politics I can’t take part in, but I feel what you said Fresh, it’s all good and well to put hope in Obama (and don’t get me wrong in these times you need someone to look to) but if more people would look to the man up above and place their hope in him the world wouldn’t be so darn evil in the first place.

Preach!! J/K!! But on the realness, I feel ya, and as much as I support Obama, even in the bible it says to watch the people with the world’s support. It wouldn’t surprise me if somewhere down the line if we were still on the earth (maybe 30 yrs from now) that Obama was the anit-christ..or someone in his party was..

I totally respect your comments and your “new perspective” on bickering about bull-ish, I think that to say that we’re looking at Obama as the “coming of the messiah” is only aimed at small minded people. Meaning, those few folks out there that look at Obama as the “black” peoples president and that he should be working to make black America better, or that he’s going to get into office and change the world. Of course he can’t change everything. All I really want is for him to have the OPPORTUNITY to try to change things. God is the ultimate decider as to what get’s changed in the world. If it’s right with God, then it shall be. God only helps those who help themselves right? So we all know that Obama can’t do it alone, and Obama has said himself that he can’t do it alone. I really believe that in a way you’re doing nothing but bashing him just like every other right wing media outlet out there. I know that this was done in humor so to speak, but Obama hasn’t painted himself in the light that others have put him in. WE HAVE! Society has! He is who he is. If you’ve followed him or read his books, you should be able to get a real sense in to who he is as a person. He’s not out here slandering and dishing dirt like everyone else. He’s taken the high road. How often do we see that? Aren’t black folks known for “gettin back wit yo @$$ for talkin smack about them?” So why hasn’t Obama? Because, IT’S TIME FOR A CHANGE!
Everyone is entitled to believe in, listen to, and look up to whomever they want of course. God is the only one who is to be revered and praised in the regards as being a SAVIOR. And to those who look at him as a Savior, they need to wake up! He’s human! He has faults and weaknesses. And the sooner we ALL realize that, the sooner we can move on and begin to progress in the rebuilding of our country.
I think it’s safe to say that we can shed tears when we hear or feel moments of greatness. I’m sure there was some journalist out there back in the 60′s who asked the same thing when Martin Luther King gave his speeches… “Why all the tears for this one man?” When you have not just black folks but white folks being emotional about something so serious as the potential of a black man being the president…. that is powerful! Look how far we’ve come! Don’t tear this moment down with moments of questioning trivial things like “why the tears”! It’s not different than those folks in the G.O.P. (grand old party) questioning why no flag pen, or why no American flag as your symbol for change! It’s simple simon stuff!
Now… I’ve stated my peace, just as you’ve stated yours TROUBLE!!! So there *sticking out my tongue*

HOT SAUSE ON MY BURRITOE BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL SORRY FRESH JUST HAD 2 SAY THAT LOL ….. JESUS ALL DAY OBAMA IS A MAN AND I WISH UM WELL BUT LIKE U I GOT MY AIR JESUS”ES ON AND WAITEN TO BE CALLED HOME GOD BLESS
This was slightly distasteful, I understand where you are coming from but the emotion that are provoked when Sen. Obama is speaking can be related the same emotions that were provoked by Dr. Martin Luther King. When was the last time you listened to the “I Have a Dream” Speech? it will bring emotion to anyone. No Dr. King was not running for president, but if he would have i bet people would still be crying and filled with emotion similar the the Obama campaign speeches.
I hope the MC Cain camp and republicans are not reading these blogs and seeing the treason within the democratic party, save all this negativity for after the election.
If Jesus go elected that would be a step way down, agreed!
Air Jesuses eh?
with the leather strap or the slip in with the toes out?
when do those come out? or when DID those come out? lol…
