Cleen Clothing: Interview
May 4, 2009
How very hard it is to find someone with so much ambition along with the responsibility that comes with success. Someone ready for the world, prepared for its hardships as if he had been groomed for this his whole life. Maybe he has been, and maybe we’re talking about Corn, otherwise known as Cornielo Austin, the founder of Cleen Clothing. Not to the first to bring music and fashion together, Corn IS doing something different. He’s setting a standard HIGH above those set before. Not a standard as far as money, fame, or those standards which most would attribute to success, but a standard within himself to bring something to the game that the game lacks. Integrity and responsiblity, mixed with great fashion sense, sprinkled with music, and most importantly served with Christ. Check out the interview, and WE will definitely keep you posted as to whats goin on with Corn and Cleen Clothing!
Urban Trend Spotters Can Now Look to White House
December 5, 2008
From Advertising Age: Now that Barack Obama has won the election, we have just seen the tip of the iceberg in regard to interest in African-American nuances. The fist bump, soul food, pickup basketball, clothing choices and slang terms are all examples of trends, habits and thoughts urban America has brought to the forefront of American culture with the help of the advertising, marketing and media world.
Urban America has long been the innovator of trends, driving them to mainstream acceptance. These trends typically start from the bottom and move up (grassroots-style), and as time goes on, they gain momentum until eventually landing on someone’s “trend radar.” From there, they inspire and influence the mainstream, becoming part of pop culture and society.
With Obama now headed to the White House, will the urban trend-spotting process change? Absolutely. The process will now unfold from the top down, starting with America’s First Family. Mark your calendars, as urban trends will now start at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and trickle down to a suburb near you.
So what urban trends has Barack Obama introduced to mainstream media so far? I took a quick look on YouTube and laid them out for you.
The Fist Bump. The fist bump is a true urban way of saying “What’s going on?” or “How you feelin?” It can even be used as a “Congrats, we just nailed that presentation” sort of thing. The fist bump has gotten a lot of press for all the wrong reasons when it was somehow tied to terrorist activity. The reality is athletes have fist-bumped for decades and boxers do it before fights. Others fist-bump, or dap, if he/she has sweaty hands and don’t want to shake. I encourage you to try it. And if you still don’t quite understand the fist bump, the folks at Fox News — concerned as they were about the real issues during the election — actually called in a so-called body-language expert to break it all down.
The result: The fist bump will slowly integrate itself as a greeting, one degree below a handshake.
Pickup Basketball. In my opinion, pickup basketball is the No. 1 urban athletic activity available today. While in the suburbs many want to hit the tennis court or golf course to burn off that extra weight or to get the heart rate up, urban America loves a good game of pickup hoops. It is what we love. Talking basketball is as powerful as talking politics in some circles, so you better know your game.
I have found two clips of this; the first is an Obama hoops mix of his best recorded moments.
The second is of the HBO Real Sports “Obama loves Basketball” segment.
The result: High-end basketball clubs, courts and gyms will open up throughout America.

The Shoe Report
September 22, 2008
Was blog surfing at work on break, and these two pairs of shoes over at solecollector.com caught my eye. I emailed the links to myself so once at home i could blog em’. And here i am…
The first shoe, a greedy genius creation, is defintely something the ‘fly’ have already taken notice to, but the second of the two is something new from the good folks over at Adidas. Im a classic addidas man, shell toes and gazelles, not much into their athletic sneakers, but these shoes called the Y-3 Hayworth II Mid, arent bad if you ask me.
Just yesterday, we offered a hi-resolution look at the latest release from the Y-3 camp, the Hayworth II Mid. Two more color schemes of the inventive sneakerboot are set to release. In particular, an alluring stealth black/stealth black/white version and white/black/red edition will sit perched atop store shelves later this fall. The unique c-strut lacing holes, belt-inspired ankle strap, scaled midsole and ribbed heel piece remain intact, but the white-based version is covered in this unidentified graphic. Seriously, I don’t even want to conjecture as to what it could possibly be.

With some similarities to the Creative Recreation Cesario Mid, Greedy Genius has reinvigorated their uninspired product line with the Cool Breeze Hi “Purpo.” Purple accents line the nappa leather upper, while the brand’s “Greedy Geniu$” moniker rests on the shoe’s heel label and tongue and faux crocodile print envelopes the heel. The model is limited to 500 pairs, so hurry up and grab yours at http://www.greedygenius.com/

Herve Leger Spring 09 Collection
September 10, 2008
Laird Borrelli-Persson of Style.com described the show as “Sex on heels” and I couldn’t agree more. The Herve Leger dress is the go-to dress if you want to turn heads on the red carpet. No matter how innocent the face or imperfect the figure, you’ll be dripping with sex appeal while wearing the dress.
Last season marked the revamp of the collection, which was brought back by Max Azria. Mr. Azria did a great job at turning the bondage dress into a complete collection then. And this time the collection was even more versatle than the previous.
The classic bondage dresses makes you think of just that: bondage. The bands, which seem to hold the models’ bodies captive, are even more intricate this time around with the addition of bands going in different directions. Some also contain the addition of beading, without going overboard.
Other dresses contained futuristic prints, some with a touch of color. These dress stray away from the default Herve Leger look, but is still dripping in sex appeal.
Max Azria has also added the sensibility of separates. Not appropriate for the office, but maybe for a dinner party.
And of course, the collection contains the perfect dresses for red carpet and big event. The beige dress trimmed in beaded bands is my absolute favorite.
Lastly, swimsuits have been added to the collection. Or should I say lingerie. These swimsuits seem too hot to waste wearing in the water. I’m sure they’ll be used to many spreads during the next season.
As always, the super thin models, don’t do this collection much justice. Can’t wait to see these dresses on the red carpet.
