It is always good when a music artist blesses listeners with good quality music. Rapper Fabolous has done just that with the release of his fifth album. The Brooklyn New York native will be releasing an album titled “Loso’s Way” tommorow July 28th. Fab is argubually one of the more consistent artist in hip hop to date. He may not be viewed as “the best rapper” in the game but he defenitely makes music worth listening to. Fab got his fans attention with his first single “Throw In The Bag”, a catchy flashy hit that has been getting quite a bit of radio play as well as spins in hip hop clubs across the country. Also recently released was the remix to “Throw In The Bag” featuring Drake and The Dream. It is my prediction that the song “Last Time” featuring Trey Songs, this joint defenitely will get the party going in the club. Outside of club bangers Fab also brings deep content with “Pachangas”, which describes the nature of friendships and how people change in them. Fab did not forget to leave his fans with some raw lyrics with punch lines which is what put him on the scene eight years ago with the song “Salute” featuring Lil Wayne. He also kept the ladies in mind with the track “Makin Love”. Fab features a good list of artist on the album which included Lil Wayne, Trey Songs, Kheri Hilson, The Dream, Neyo, and more. Loso’s way is an album worth purchasing, which is big in these economic downloading times. I hope you enjoy the album like I am.

Hiphop In a Recession… who really got it… who doesnt.

May 4, 2009

Hiphop, the land of fairy tales. If India has Bollywood, Hiphop is Hollyhood. The place where “everything that glitters aint gold.” Many times you’ve been told to not believe everything your eyes see. Jay-Z said it in “Ignorant Shit”

“They’re all actors, lookin’ at themselves in the mirror backwards
Can’t even face themself, don’t fear no rappers
They’re all, weirdos, DeNiros in practice
So, don’t believe everything your earlobe captures
It’s mostly backwards, unless it happens to be as accurate as me
And everything said in song, you happen to see
Then, actually, believe half of what you see
None of what you hear, even if it’s spat by me”

Everybody doin it, aint DOIN it. And this was before the recession. Shortly before the fall of the stock market Scarface also dropped a jewel on us regarding the pitfalls of the industry courtesy of Freeway’s “Baby Dont Do It” where he says:

“Free, I know you feel me daddy, all a nigga know
Was to get money and once you got your money, niggaz stole
‘Cause who knows where shit goes when this plays out (no, no, no, no, no, no)
Rap music brought a nigga pay days without a doubt
But, what do you do when it’s all said and done?
Ain’t nobody checkin for records and won’t nobody come
Life goes on, I don’t want to be another Joe
Fifty-five doin concerts, relyin on his shows (baby don’t do it)
So, I stack my green, to match my means, straight Jewish
When niggaz spent money, I ain’t do it
Just ’cause you lookin like you ballin in the eyes of the public
How many really think he got to touch it? (baby don’t do it)
Yo, a fool at forty, a fool forever
Don’t be a forty year old fool, dude get cheddar (cheddar) (sugar don’t do it)”

You believe it now? Probably not. For some reason alot of folks tend to believe that the rise in gas prices only affected us below the poverty line. Middle class, lower class but again Jay says it best:

“Whatchu mad cause you push dimes and he sell weight?
Y’all don’t know my expenses, I gotta buy a bigger place
Hehehe, and more baggies, why you all aggie?”

Even still everyone who looks like they doing bad aint doing bad, and vice versa. Malice from The Clipse gets about as honest as you’re gonna get in hiphop here in this video:

So while Baby (Cash Money) is saying this:

Someone else is saying this:

Good day!

Will Hiphop Kill Obama’s Campaign?

August 28, 2008

Will it kill the campaign? No? Will it help it? Maybe, maybe not? Will it be affected? VERY MUCH SO. Hiphop, as with any outlet has the power to change, the power to influence but it all depends HOW that power is used. For instance, Ludacris used his influence in a way that caused the Obama Campaign to alienate itself from Ludacris, and maybe hiphop as a whole. You be the judge though. Leave a comment and let me know what you think, and we’ll go from there. I’ll post my replies. Lets get a discussion started….
